Optimum Live TV app for android COMING SOON!

Today i received an email in response to my question whether or not the app is in the works....where you can watch live tv from your android device (currently on ipad only) and sure enough....a developer at optimum took the time out and responded "An android version of the live TV app is in the works. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us. Information will be announced as it's available."

It's only a matter of time, Honeycomb is coming.....and it's coming strong.

Heres a recap of the app:

Now your Honeycomb tablet will function as an additional TV in the home. With the Optimum for Android app you can view your iO TV channels live, control your DVR and enhanced Guide display from your Wi-Fi-enabled Honeycomb Tablet. This app provides another screen for you to use in your home and allows you to move around your home while watching all of your favorite shows on iO TV.

Xoom ad hoc over iphone 3GS tethering

In this blog i will show you how to use your iphone as a wireless hotspot for your motorola xoom.
i guess i just shitted on verizon by doing this. lol

ok, so yeah i own an iphone 3GS and it is under at&t. do you honestly think that i'm going to pay for 2 data plans? one for the phone and one for the tab?!

first thing you must know is that your iphone 3GS must be jailbroken and your motorola xoom must be rooted.

on your iphone all you need to do is download pdanet via cydia.
pdanet is so self explanatory that i really don't need to go into details.
open the program....create a new ssid....give it a 10 digit numeric password and walaa its up and running.

now on the xoom we have to do a little work.....but not much....a 9 year old can do it.

We will be replacing the WPA-supplicant file on your XOOM to enable it to see and connect to ad-hoc networks. Credit for the WPA-supplicant file goes to kelvie at XDA

*This can all be done from the XOOM*

1. Download Root Explorer HERE
2. Download modified WPA-supplicant file HERE
3. Turn off Wi-Fi or just turn on Airplane mode
4. Unzip/extract WPA-supplicant file using Root Explorer by navigating to "Download" folder and long press zip file and select extract.
5. Press back arrow twice to get to root screen of Root Explorer
6. Go to /system/bin, select "Mount R/W" at the top, and then long press "wpa_supplicant", select "Rename", and add ".bak" to the file name.
7. Press back arrow twice and go to "Extracted" folder
8. Open "wpa_supplicant_xoom_wifi_adhoc", open "system", open "bin".
9. Long press "wpa_supplicant" file and select "Copy"
10. Press back arrow 4 times
11. Select /system/bin and select "Paste"
12. You will see a "wpa_supplicant file" and "wpa_supplicant.bak" file
13. Long press "wpa_supplicant"
14. Select "Permissions" and change them so that they read:

Select OK and your finished!!!! Now your motorola xoom will see the ssid from the iphone and finally you will be able to connect to it.

enjoy!
